The above images show a section of Springbrook Trail during control. Two control methods have been used to control this area of the Springbrook Trail. The garlic mustard was hand pulled, bagged, and properly disposed of. The wild parsnip was sprayed with herbicides through foliar application.
The garlic mustard was pulled in May and the wild parsnip was sprayed in June. After visiting the site in August, the area with garlic mustard had been overtaken with wild parsnip. This shows that once one plant is removed another invasive plant will take over. After noticing this new population of wild parsnip, it was sprayed in order to control all invasives.
The area will continue to be controlled to remove the garlic mustard and wild parsnip populations. Native grasses and flowers will be planted to restore the area.
